RF Hardware Design Engineer

Novus Resources is hiring an RF Hardware Design Engineer to work at our client location in San Diego, CA. Our client is the leading provider of wireless and wired technologies for the mobile, networking, computing and consumer electronics markets. The engineer will drive RF board hardware design for products. He or she will be working closely with the chip manufacturer and will be involved in all aspects of product integration into our client’s platforms including architecture, specification, layout, design verification, testing and introduction into manufacturing.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of design and development experience with RF products and systems which include transmitters, receivers, and frequency synthesizers in the DC to 6GHz operating frequency range with power levels up to +30dBm
  • Detailed understanding of noise, thermal and emission issues
  • Design experience with RF discrete components as well as RFICs, amplifiers, LNAs, synthesizers, filters, VCOs, directional couplers, transmission line modeling, and antennas
  • Use of RF/Analog Simulation tools such as: ADS, AWR, PSPICE Excellent RF, analog, and digital debugging and lab skills Proficient in schematic capture tools such as Orcad, Mentor or Cadence HDL (preferred)
  • Proficient in board layout design to include Density Interconnect (HDI) and surface mount technologies
  • Develop and releasing product to manufacturing, including experience with manufacturing methods, emissions testing, regulatory and all steps necessary for a successful launch to manufacturing.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory , and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving fast paced environment
  • Strong communication , presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Proficient in using lab test equipment such as Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal generators in order to develop, test and debug circuits and systems
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Desired experience with NFC technology such as, knowledge of NFC-A, B and F technologies in Reader /Writer modes, card emulation, and Per-to-Peer modes, as well as support of secure elements over Single Wire Protocol (SWP) would be a plus.
  • Experience with this in the consumer marketplace would be an additional plus.
